Song Description:
Alternative Rock
Last night we finally settled on a band name. It took four months of sitting in a small bedroom, four floors above Jolfa St (ghabl az Farhangsaraye Arasbaran) to realise who we were. In Tehran there are only two Ginkgo trees, and sometimes it feels like there is only Pooyan and me in this vast polluted city that we call home. We are trying to be students but we are not very good sometimes. When I was a child my teacher told me why Ginkgo trees are special; the veins of their leaves are on the outside, not on the inside like every other leaf. So, we wear our hearts on our sleeves, and this song is about the laziness of a Friday morning in Tehran, the comforting words of your favourite book, and being alone together.
Lyrics:
Sun smiles through the open door
Inviting me to come explore
But i want to stay here next to you
Where i can rest a while
Friday morning comes around
(and I)
I miss everyone but myself
The city is still sleeping
And I’m just reading the same book
I’ve read five times before
Watching you slow breathing
Lying in wait for you to wake up
Just to tell you there's no need to get up
Because it's Friday
And everyone's still sleeping
Except me
